Fast X Story Summary
After averting Cipher’s (Charlize Theron) attempts, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family seem to have settled down with Dom teaching his son, B (short for Brian), the tricks of the trade. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Dom and his family continue to work on missions for the Agency, formerly led by Mr Nobody (Kurt Russell).
Dom is joined by his abuelita (grandmother) for a classic Toretto-style barbeque lunch. Also, he passes on the responsibility for leading a mission in Rome to Roman (Tyrese Gibson) on his request, and Roman, in true Roman fashion, comes up with an eccentric plan that involves a golden Lamborghini.
The same night, a car pulls up in Dom’s driveway, and an injured Cipher comes out of the car to knock at Dom’s door. At this moment, Cipher recounts her encounter with whom she calls the devil. Later, it is revealed that the “devil,” mentioned by Cipher, was the son of Hernan Reyes, the kingpin whose vault was robbed by Dom and his team ten years ago in Rio, Brazil. It turns out that his son, Dante (Jason Momoa) was present during the car chase during which Hernan tried stopping Dom and was killed by Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson).
Back to the present, Cipher explains that Dante came to her lair to seek her help with punishing Dom, but when Cipher refused to collaborate, Dante turned Cipher’s hired men against her by revealing that he had their family members in his captivity. He exited with Cipher’s top-level tech, along with some of Cipher’s tech guys, who would help him control Cipher’s tech, leaving Cipher at the mercy of her own hired mercenaries. But luckily for Cipher, she managed to get away with some injuries before reaching Dom’s place. Having acclimated herself to Dante’s madness, Cipher warns Dom and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) of the upcoming war.
The next morning, Little Nobody (Scott Eastwood), from the Agency, comes to Dom’s assistance to ensure everyone in the family is safe. At the same time, Dom, who’s unable to establish contact with his team on a mission in Rome, finds out from Little Nobody that there wasn’t any mission in Rome, Dom and Letty realize that Roman, Tej, Han, and Ramsey have been set up.
In Rome, by the time the team realizes that they have been trapped, they also find out that the consignment they were supposed to steal did not contain a computer chip but an extremely powerful bomb that Dante intended to use to blow up the Vatican.
To rescue their team, Dom and Letty join the chase while Dante runs the show from his base like a puppeteer. In the chase that ensues, the ball-shaped bomb falls out of the container and starts rolling on the streets of Rome. With the ball-shaped bomb crashing through the city of Rome, Dom takes the responsibility of taking care of it while the team provides ground support. Letty tries to chase down Dante, but he manages to lose his tail.
On the other hand, Dom decides to lead the 20-kiloton bomb to the Tiber River to reduce its potential impact on the surroundings. But he only achieves partial success as the bomb still ends up causing substantial damage to the city. As a result of Dante’s stunts in Rome, Dom and his team are marked as the conspirators of a terrorist attack on Rome.
At the Agency headquarters, Aimes (Alan Ritchson) has taken over the organisation, and he blames Toretto and his team for carrying out illegal activities for years with the help of corrupted agency officials such as Mr Nobody. Even after resistance from Tess (Brie Larson), the Director of the Agency and the daughter of Mr Nobody, Aimes makes it clear that Dom’s time has run out.
In Rome, Dom takes the help of Queenie (Helen Mirren), Deckard Shaw’s mother, to keep his team safe for the time being. Unfortunately for Dom, Letty was arrested in Rome and was passed on to the hands of the agency. Back home in Los Angeles, Mia (Jordana Brewster) and B are attacked by the agency’s soldiers, but Jakob (John Cena), who’s sent by Dom, comes to the rescue of his family.
Tess, who has stolen the God’s Eye from the Agency, traces down Dom with Queenie’s help. She informs Dom about the presence of Dante, the son of Hernan Reyes. Dom requests Tess’ help to rescue Letty from the black site prison she’s being held at. While Tess claims the task to be an impossible one, she does help out Letty by injuring her and ensuring Letty’s transfer to the Agency’s medical facility where Cipher was being kept after being handed over by Dom. Letty and Cipher, although reluctantly, join hands to get out of the facility.
On the other hand, Dom arrives in Rio in search of Dante, and the faceoff happens soon without much wait. Dante poses a challenge to Dom, only to realize that he may own the city, but the street remains loyal to Dom. With Dom and Dante finding equal support from the crowd present, Dante challenges Dom to a race and Dom accepts the challenge.
Just before the race starts, Dante asks Dom how he chooses whom to save, leaving Dom confused. A few seconds into the race, Dom realizes the true intention behind Dante’s question as he has planted bombs on the cars of Dom’s friends. As the race progresses, Dante detonates each of the bombs one by one. The first bomb targets the car of his old pal, Diego, and the second bomb targets the car of a girl he just met, Isabel. Surprisingly, Dom decides to save Isabel whereas Diego’s car burns and crashes with him in it.
By winning the race through deceit, Dante makes it clear that he doesn’t play by the rules of men like Dom. To give Dom’s team a bigger setback, Dante hacks into the accounts of everyone and steals their cash. But thanks to Roman who likes to keep his money in cash, Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), Tej (Ludacris), Han (Sung Kang) and Roman can still afford to shop for guns and ammunition while they await Dom’s arrival at the rendezvous point.
On the other side, it turns out that the girl Dom chose to rescue during the car race, Isabel, was Elena’s sister, who uses Elena’s old files to lead Dom to Dante’s lair – the police station from where Dom stole the vault ten years ago. At the police station, Dom discovers that Dante had been working on his master plan for years, making it clear why Dante did not appear before. Just as this realization seeps in, Dom receives a call from Dante who informs him that he will be taking out his family one by one. Just as Dante keeps the phone down, Aimes arrives at the location, with his men, to arrest Dom.
On the way out of the city, Aimes’ convoy is attacked by Dante at the same bridge where Hernan was killed. To add to Dom’s misery, Dante holds Isabel as his hostage. At the same time, Tess also arrives to support Dom. Dante, using his resources, injures Tess and Aimes before trying to kill Elena’s sister, Isabel. However, Dom successfully manages to save Isabel. But in the chaos that ensues, Dante takes possession of the God’s Eye from Tess and before leaving, threatens Dom that he can now locate Dom’s son using the eye. After Dante leaves, Aimes offers his help to locate and save Dom’s son.
On the other hand, Tej, Han, Ramsey, and Roman decide to take Deckard Shaw’s (Jason Statham) help. As seen in the post-credits scene of Fast 9, Han knocks at the door of Shaw. Although Shaw gets furious at seeing Han at first, he helps fight off the Agency’s soldiers when they attack the group. With Shaw’s resources at her disposal, Ramsey finds out that Dante has used their money to hire mercenaries to kill everyone who has helped Dom and his family, including Shaw’s mother, Queenie. Soon after, Shaw leaves to find and protect his mother from Dante’s devious schemes.
Fast X Ending Explained: Did Dom Save His Son From Dante?
Somewhere in Mexico, Jakob and B, who are heading towards the rendezvous point (as instructed by Dom), are intercepted by Dante while Dom also catches up to them with the help of Aimes. Although Jakob keeps B initially from Dante’s reach, Dante eventually gets his hands on B. With his car malfunctioning in the pursuit, Jakob decides to sacrifice himself to clear Dom’s way. Using his car as a bomb, Jakob helps clear Dom’s way.
Braving the obstacles that Dante throws Dom’s way, including a couple of helicopters, Dom takes B off the hands of Dante and gets going towards the airfield where Aimes has asked the team to meet. Just as Dom and B reach a water dam on the way, Dom finds out that both ends of the dam have been blocked by two big oil tankers deployed by Dante. Dom realizes that Dante has led Dom exactly where he wanted Dom to be.
Just the moment Dom discovers that it was a trap set up by Dante, Roman and others appear in a jet, only to be shot down by Aimes, who turns out to be Dante’s partner. Dante reveals to Dom that Aimes was placed within the agency by him and his father way back in time. The jet in which Roman and others were travelling is shown crashing in the distance.
After a few exchanges of words, Dom tells Dante that he has not snatched away his car yet and as the two tankers move in from either side, Dom decides to jump off the dam into the river with his car. The leap of faith saves Dom and B from the explosion. But Dante keeps one final trick up his sleeve as he decides to detonate the bombs set to blow up the dam. With Dom and B standing in the way of the water in case the dam breaks, Dante decides it’s time for Dom to die. Before the scene cuts away, Dom looks hopelessly at the dam in front of him as the enormous amount of water stands to wash away everything in its way.
Keeping the fate of Dom and B a mystery, the scene cuts away to the remote Agency facility from which Letty and Cipher have managed to break out. To welcome Letty and Cipher, Gisele (Gal Gadot) arrives with the nuclear submarine that Cipher stole from the Russians previously.
While the fate of Dom and B is not revealed, it is highly unlikely they may have died. It is possible that the scene in which Gisele comes to the rescue of Letty and Cipher may have taken place earlier in time, and Gisele’s appearance with a nuclear submarine may help Dom and his son’s cause.
Fast X Post-Credits Scene: Luke Hobbs Returns To The Family
In the post-credits scene, it is revealed that Dante did not target Dom and his family only. The former lawman who killed his father, Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), remains on Dante’s radar as he declares to Hobbs that he will be coming looking for him. Adamant as always, Hobbs welcomes any challenge that comes his way. However, it is unclear how Luke Hobbs’ path will cross with that of Dom and his family as Dante remains dedicated to punishing everyone who wronged his father.
