Surfside Girls Story Summary
The story begins at the beach in the town of Surfside. Two best friends, Jade (Miya Cech) and Sam (YaYa Gosselin) are seen surfing. The two are polar opposite personalities. Jade is a scientific, logical girl who loves going to Sci Camp whereas Sam is more into the supernatural and fictional world of mystery and magic. Sam is obsessed with the stories of the Obsidian Flyer and the Cursed Treasure of the Surfside.
As they are surfing, the waves reach quite high and Jade calls off the plan. But Sam insists and goes surfing again. Suddenly a huge wave overpowers her board and she disappears from Jade’s sight. Sam reaches deep down the ocean and comes out of a hole into a cavern. A coin is kept there. As she touches the coin, a voice encores – “Help me”.
Sam swims back and tells the whole thing to Jade who thinks that Sam is having a concussion and is imagining things. Jade leaves for her Sci-Camp. Sam comes back to her father’s famous shop The Burger Dude where her dad, Bob (Jacob Vargas) is busy making his spicy creations along with his son Petey. Monica (Catia Ojeda), Sam’s Mother, is a member of the Surfside Committee which is trying to get people to protect the town cliff at Danger Point from erosion.
Sam and Jade meet for lunch with Jade’s camp friends, Francesca and Miles. A conversation breaks between Jade and Sam about the cavern. Jade feels that Sam is weird and infatuated with her love for fiction. Jade apologises to Sam later. She inspects the coin Sam found. The coin indeed is pure gold and could be a part of the “Cursed Treasure of the Southside”.
The girls arrive at the cavern at the Danger Point. As they are looking around, suddenly a ghost appears. He is Remington Augustus Van Roberts, also known as Remi. He is a young pirate who sent doubloons – the coin – to connect with the girls. They all walk through a rock out of the cave and in front of them is a massive ship – the Obsidian Flyer – and its ghost pirates.
Captain Devar appears to question Remi about the girls. Remi assures the Captain that the Surfside Girls are “believers” who can help them. Their ship is disappearing because of the erosion and crumbling of the cliff of Danger Point. This is related to both the real world and the pirate world which would be destroyed if the crumbling is not stopped. Remi asks for help from Sam and Jade to solve the mystery of the erosion and save both worlds.
The next morning, the trio splits to follow their leads to the mystery. Sam and Remi follow the tourist guide, Old Man Olsen, who narrates the story of the Obsidian Flyer to the tourists. Jade is back at the Danger Point to check for the soil samples of the region. She discovers that the place has some unnatural magnetic fields. Sam is suspicious about Olsen’s story and decides to follow him.
Petey is in a conversation with his dad about the strange food truck in town Taco Bruh which might take over their food business. His father tries to calm him down.
While questioning Mr Olsen, the trio finds that he too landed on the cavern once and found a strange antique key. The trio take that key in the hopes it might open up the hidden treasure. Jade is at the Surfside Museum to find out more about the history of the treasure when she finds a movie featuring the founder of the museum – The Lady. She takes a few history books with her and meets with Sam and Remi at the cavern to find more.
To their surprise, the Lady gave her mansion to be used as a museum only on one condition – her sewing room should be left untouched. The next morning, they all sneak into the museum to look for the next clue. A close escape from the booby traps leads them to their next clue – a large shell.
Busy in her museum quest, Sam misses her mother’s speech at the community centre. To make up to her mother, Sam accompanies her to Danger Point for picking up trash, but Sam comes across some weird sand patterns at the Point.
On the other side, Jade observes the portraits in the museum and the carvings on the wall of the cavern. The writing is of The Lady. That night, Captain Devar takes away the doubloon from Remi and steals the Key from Jade’s room. The trio brings Captain Devar to the museum to see if he could remember anything about his past.
The film at the museum triggers his past. The Lady of the Surfside was his love. They were indeed partners, and the key opened the first chest of gold they found together. With a sigh, he disappears. Remi confronts Captain Devar. The Captain admits that he and The Lady saved Remi from an abandoned village and took him on the ship.

Surfside Girls Ending Explained
Jade and Sam spot another sand pattern at the Danger Point, but this time, with some metallic spots, probably made by a large electromagnetic machine. Jade bumps into her friends and leaves for the Camp. As Jade is trying to construct a similar electromagnetic machine, the community members enter the lab to discuss the frequent brownouts in the town.
There is some relation between these town brownouts and the erosion of Danger Point. Sam and Remi reach the Danger Point to scrutinize. To their surprise, they see Dr Pfeiffer (Sonita Henry), Jade’s Sci Camp tutor. She is seen handling a giant machine with her crystal neckpiece. Sam meets Jade the next day. She tries to explain to her that Dr Pfeiffer is the bad guy, but Jade remains in denial.
A fight breaks out between the two. Jade is too upset with what Sam said. She smashes the shell to the wall out of anger and the shell cracks open. Inside it is a cylindrical case with a passcode. On the other side, Sam is at the lab trying to find evidence against Dr Pfeiffer. The girls ultimately apologise to each other and try to open the cylindrical case. The case has a crystal, similar to the one which Dr Pfeiffer has.
Do the Surfside Girls find the treasure and save the town from Dr Pfeiffer?
Dr Pfeiffer catches Sam and Jade at the lab, but they escape. The food truck Taco Bruh is the machine hiding spot of Dr Pfeiffer. She takes the truck around the town and charges her machine which causes the frequent brownouts. Sam and Jade, with the help of Remi, steal the machine’s charging cable and hide in the cavern.
The cavern starts to rupture and behind the walls is the hidden Cursed Treasure – the Crystals. But this is not the end. The machine is still working, causing the walls to rupture and the cliff to crumble. The machine works on a high voltage. The girls blast the machine by providing a large amount of voltage and successfully stop the erosion. The Danger Point is now safe, and the Obsidian Flyer reappears.
Surfside Girls is now streaming on Apple TV+.
