Tekken: Bloodline follows Jin Kazama as he enters the King of Iron Fist tournament in a bid to lure the Ogre who killed his mother Jun Kazama.
Tekken: Bloodline‘s story takes place between Tekken 2 and Tekken 3 as Jin Kazama trains under his mother on a remote island. The storyline nearly follows the storyline of the third Tekken game that was released in 1997.
The anime series will follow the series of events after Jin Kazama loses his mother at the hands of Ogre and seeks guidance from his grandfather Heihachi Mishima to seek vengeance upon the demon that killed his mother.
Tekken: Bloodline Story Summary
After moving to a remote island, Jun Kazama has been home-schooling her son Jin Kazama and training him in the Kazama fighting style. She has been training Jin to help him control his anger and use his power for the better good.
One night, they are paid a visit by an unknown demon, the Ancient Ogre. Jun asks Jin to stay inside no matter what while she goes out to fight the beast. Before leaving, she asks Jin to find his grandfather Heihachi Mishima if anything happens to her.
Although Jin tries to assist his mother briefly, he is no match for the power of Ogre. In a brutal battle, Ogre kills Jun Kazama.
As his mother instructed before her death, Jin Kazama, after weeks of attempts, finds his grandfather Heihachi.
On their first meeting, Heihachi asks Jin to fight him to test his true worth. However, finding him to be a weak fighter, Heihachi gets disappointed and asks Jin to leave.
Jin reveals that his mother had asked him to come there, and he will do anything to kill the green monster that took his mother away.
Upon finding that Ogre killed Jun, Heihachi promises to teach Jin on the condition that Jin will have to prove his ancestry to him.
Providing the knowledge to Jin that he will be targeted by everyone for being a Mishima, Heihachi starts Jin’s training. Heihachi tells Jin that he will break him first and then build him back as it is the only way he will strengthen his body to make it a weapon.
After the first day of training, Heihachi takes Jin for a dinner meeting with Ganryu, who was tasked with finding Chang’s pendant, a rare artefact that has attracted Heihachi’s fascination. Heihachi coerces Jin to take the pendant from Ganryu’s possession forcefully.
It is revealed that the pendant helps identify evil spirits such as Ogre. Meanwhile, Jin comes to know that high-skilled fighters have been disappearing lately.
After four years of training, Jin becomes an adept fighter who has shed his pacifism and adopted the fiery fighting style of the Mishimas. When Jin is finally able to overpower Heihachi, Heihachi decides to begin preparations for the King of Iron Fist Tournament in a bid to lure Ogre.
Jin is advised not to advertise that he’s related to Kazuya Mishima as many have tried to kill Kazuya. Jin comes across an old acquaintance of his, Hwoarang, on the way to the tournament, along with other fighters such as Phoenix.
On the way, while Jin watches a video of a fight between Heihachi and Kazuya, Hwoarang tells him that it was the first time when somebody had matched Kazuya’s power. When the duo met in battle previously, Heihachi was left helpless. He also tells Jin that Phoenix has been the only other fighter who had come close to beating Kazuya.
However, nobody in the group knows where Kazuya was anymore while some speculate that Heihachi killed him. Before the start of the tournament, Jin tries questioning Heihachi about his father but gets disappointed when Heihachi ignores him.
Curious to know more, Jin tries asking Nina Williams about Kazuya, but she warns him against getting entangled with the Mishimas – a concern shared by Paul Phoenix as well.
Phoenix reveals that Kazuya was a ruthless fighter who humiliated his opponents. When Heihachi and Kazuya fought in the first tournament, Heihachi was defeated brutally, and it was a surprise for everyone when Heihachi survived and returned to beat Kazuya in the second tournament.
When Jin asks Heihachi whether he killed Kazuya, Heihachi admits and reveals that Kazuya had become truly evil because of the Devil Gene that got activated due to Kazuya’s hatred towards his father. He also adds that Ogre gets attracted by the supernatural power, which is activated by the gene. It’s the same reason why Ogre sought Jin and killed his mother in the process.
While Jin’s determination to kill Ogre strengthens, Heihachi plans to capture Ogre in a special cell, which has been built by the scientist Bosconovitch.

Tekken: Bloodline Ending Explained
In his first fight, Jin takes on Leroy Smith and emerges as the winner, but he ends up breaking Leroy’s leg. Jin discovers that Leroy has a feeling of vengeance towards Heihachi for losing his family. On the other hand, Jin’s friend, Lin Xiaoyu, beats Nina Williams.
In his next match, Jin meets Hwoarang. While he beats Hwoarang after a tough fight, he refrains from finishing him off, welcoming Heihachi’s ire. Lin Xiaoyu is beaten easily by King in her second fight of the tournament.
Heihachi informs Jin that King has been killed by Ogre recently. Hence, he did not know who was fighting disguised as King in the tournament. King goes up against Paul Phoenix in the next match and knocks him out to enter the final stage of the tournament.
Chang’s daughter arrives at the tournament to recover her mother’s pendant. After a minor scuffle with Heihachi, she tells Jin that her mother was determined to prevent the misuse of the pendant. It is also revealed that Heihachi was the one who unleashed Ogre onto the world. Jin promises the woman to get her pendant back after the tournament.
Before leaving, the woman informs Jin that the King he’s about to fight was brought up as an orphan by the original King, who was killed by Ogre. King was at the tournament to raise funds for an orphanage.
Who wins the King of the Iron Fist tournament?
After a well-fought match, Jin beats King to emerge as the winner of the tournament and gives the prize money to him to build the orphanage.
However, at the end of the tournament, Heihachi reveals that Jin will have to beat Heihachi in his final bout.
Confronting Heihachi for releasing Ogre, Jin accepts his challenge. Although Heihachi knocks down Jin once, Jin remembers his mother’s teachings and uses the Kazama technique to overpower his master.
When Jin knocks down Heihachi, the pendant falls from his pocket, making way for Ogre to arrive at the arena.
Heihachi stops the other competitors from helping Jin initially. But when Jin beats Ogre once and it turns to its more dangerous true form, the others also join the attack.
As the combined strength of the whole group falls short to match the brute strength of the True Ogre, the Devil Gene of Jin activates, giving him supernatural brawn. Finally, Jin manages to kill Ogre and avenge his mother.
Realizing that Jin has managed to activate the Devil Gene, Heihachi shoots Jin. But Heihachi’s attempt to kill Jin fails as Jin remembers the teachings of his mother and transforms into his Devil form.
Devil Jin, in a moment of anger, beats up Heihachi badly. However, remembering that he must not kindle the same hatred his father Kazuya Mishima nurtured, Jin refrains from killing his grandfather.
In the end, Jin takes a final look at Lin Xiaoyu before flying away into the unknown.
