The thriller film Vikram directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is led by Kamal Haasan. The movie also features Fahadh Fassil and Vijay Sethupathi in key roles. The movie collected Rs. 432.50 crores worldwide. Rs. 307.60 crores of its collection came from India.
Vikram is the biggest Tamil language movie of all time. It completed its legendary run at the box office a few weeks back.
The film started its journey like a high-speed train at the beginning of June and within the next few weeks, broke almost every record in Kollywood history. The most significant record was to become the highest grosser ever in Tamil Nadu while beating Baahubali 2 by a margin of Rs. 40 crores. The film led to 1 crore footfalls to cinema halls in Tamil Nadu. 1.22 crore audience admitted that it’s their first time in Kollywood in a long time. Enthiran probably made a similar impact in 2010.
The film became the highest-grossing Tamil language film globally with a collection of Rs. 373 crores. The record is well ahead of the previous best of Rs. 288 crores from 2.0. However, if we consider all versions, it comes second as 2.0 collected a lot more in Hindi and Telugu with a total collection of Rs. 665 crores.
