Sylvester Stallone stars as retired superhero in ‘Samaritan’

In Samaritan, Sylvester Stallone plays the role of a retired superhero called Samaritan, who was believed to be dead 25 years ago.

Prime Video released the first trailer for a superhero offering titled ‘Samaritan’ starring Sylvester Stallone in the titular role. The trailer shows that Sylvester Stallone will be playing a superhero who now leads a secretive life after being widely believed to be dead for the last 25 years. The film is set in a fictional city called Granite City.

Samaritan is directed by the Australian director Julius Avery and produced by Stallone’s production company Balboa Productions, with the script written by Bragi F. Schut.

The film also stars Javon Walton as a thirteen-year-old boy who tries to get Samaritan back on the street to fight crimes. Danish actor Pilou Asbæk plays the antagonist as a crime lord.

The synopsis reads: “A young boy learns that a superhero who was thought to have gone missing after an epic battle twenty years ago may in fact still be around.”

Samaritan will premiere on Prime Video on August 26, 2022.
