She-Hulk Episode 6 Recap & Review: Jen and Titania’s feud breaks out

Episode 6 of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law finds Jen facing a vengeful Titania at her friend Lulu’s wedding as the two take their ongoing feud outside the legal purview of the court.

She-Hulk Season 1 Episode 6 Recap: Just Jen

Jen receives an extravagant bridesmaid invite from her estranged old friend from high school, Lulu (Patti Harrison). Compelled by an obligation to accept her invite, Jen reluctantly goes to the wedding as She-Hulk clothed in custom dresses made by Alonzo.

Jen’s spectacular She-Hulk stature awes everyone except Lulu, who is annoyed at Jen for stealing attention from the bride in all her green glory. Lulu insensitively asks her old friend to be “Just Jen” and not hulk out at her wedding.

Mallory Book handles Jen’s work in her absence, dealing with Mr. Immortal’s peculiar divorce case. Craig Hollis, aka “Mr. Immortal” (David Pasquesi), faces charges from his wife when he morbidly jumps into traffic to end his “stale” marriage, believing it to be the most “considerate” way to end a relationship.

Terrible at confrontation, Hollis gets overwhelmed by Mallory and Nikki’s understandably astonished and judgemental reaction as the immortal being once again avoids confrontation by spectacularly jumping out the window to his death.

Meanwhile, Lulu catches up with Jen at her wedding party, making her feel sad about being single. Jen is shocked to find Titania at the wedding, assuming the vindictive influencer has weaseled her way into the festivities to get back at her. However, Titania reveals she is dating one of the groomsmen and claims she is here to celebrate the love of Lulu and her groom.

Chaos breaks out at Mr. Immortal’s divorce settlement as Mallory and Nikki deal with not one, but eight spouses defrauded by Hollis’ fake deaths and forged identities. However, Nikki breaks through with a unique and unconventional solution equitably, fulfilling every spouse’s demand relative to their requirements and impresses Mallory.

Back at the wedding, the bridesmaids overload Jen with chores and duties. Tired of being scapegoated and overlooked, Jen gets very drunk and disoriented at the party. She blurts out her insecurity to a groomsman Josh (Trevor Salter), revealing how she is annoyed at not being able to be herself at the wedding.

Nursing a hangover and sickness, Jen is suddenly struck by Titania, who reveals that she did indeed return to get even with Jen by publicly destroying her. Titania goads Jen to change into She-Hulk, and a very public and violent confrontation breaks out between the two amidst the wedding party.

However, She-Hulk overpowers Titania, and the glamorous influencer’s ploy turns on herself as she publicly humiliates herself and rushes out in embarrassment. Lulu is shocked to see Jen in Hulk form but turns out to be drunk and goofily thanks She-Hulk for attending her wedding.

Nikki and Mallory bond after their successful case with Mr. Immortal, and Mallory reveals she has been married for 11 years and has a son. The two accidentally stumble upon a series of hate posts and death threats directed at She-Hulk after they create an account on Intelligentsia – a website for “hateful man babies”.

Mallory dismisses the threats as insubstantial trolling and asks Nikki not to worry Jen with the news to protect her headspace and sanity; Nikki nevertheless reveals everything in a voicemail to Jen.

Jen enjoys a calm night of gorging on fries with Josh after the day’s hectic events; unbeknownst to her, she is stealthily being watched. The secret stalker receives a message from “HulkKing” about the next phase of their plan against She-Hulk, and they assemble a blood-extracting weapon – as used by the crooks in Episode 3 – in their lab-lair to prepare for a fresh attack on Jen.

She-Hulk Episode 6 Review

Episode 6 builds up Nikki’s relationship with Mallory, establishing her proficiency as a legal assistant with her uniquely unconventional tactics.

Jen hilariously acknowledges how the filler episode is coming at an inconvenient time – “much like weddings” – while the episode entertains with the slapstick feud between Jen and Titania.

Mr. Immortal is introduced as yet another superhuman, using his immortality for absurd fraudulent purposes. The episode establishes Nikki as a character going beyond the conventional role as the superhero’s sidekick, displaying her skills as an ebullient and skillful negotiator in the divorce settlement case.

The constant recurrence of superhuman characters diminishes the authority that superheroes enjoyed in the Marvel movies of the past, and instead, normalizes the existence of commoners wielding bizarre powers.

With only three episodes remaining, Episode 6 falls short in being slightly slow-paced in its plot progression, simply furthering the Titania feud from Episode 1 rather than building on new plot points.

The episode finally returns to the main plot with its intriguing allusion to the unnamed antagonist engineering a ploy to extract Jen’s blood for nefarious purposes.
