You Do You Story Summary

Merve Kult (Ahsen Eroğlu) is a driven and ambitious young woman full of aspirations to pursue a career as a fashion designer. At 24 years old, she finds herself living with her mother, Nevra Kult, who is a respected retired journalist known for both her beauty and her remarkable work. However, their differing views on Merve’s future create a source of tension between them.

While Merve holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, her true passion lies in the world of fashion. She yearns to express her creativity and make a name for herself as a fashion designer. Unfortunately, Nevra is unconvinced of Merve’s talents and firmly believes that her daughter should pursue a stable career in a business firm. Nevra emphasizes the importance of financial independence and urges Merve to secure a job as soon as possible.

Despite their conflicting viewpoints, Nevra recognizes the significance of Merve’s dreams and wants to support her in some way. Leveraging her vast network of contacts, Nevra manages to arrange an interview for Merve with a prestigious fashion magazine brand in Turkey. Merve’s heart skips a beat at the mere thought of encountering Leyla Madrali, the renowned editor of the country’s top fashion magazine.

Merve receives warm wishes from her supportive neighbors, Sehmuz and Gulgun, before her interview. However, the interview doesn’t go well, leaving Merve feeling disheartened. When she returns home, she discovers that Anil Gurman, a prominent investor, has purchased their building, which was previously owner by her father. Anil’s lawyer orders everyone to move out within two months. This news devastates Merve although her father needed to sell the house to pay off debts.

Merve’s father lives with another woman and has a son with her. The fact that her parents live separately but also never actually divorced adds to the complexity of the situation. Merve faces an uncertain future, with her dreams of becoming a fashion designer overshadowed by the loss of her home and financial instability.

One day, when they were all high, Merve and her friends came up with the concept of a dating app in which all of the users wear masks to promote interest based on personality rather than faces. After learning about Merve’s desire to succeed in the fashion industry, Merve’s friend Nil suggests that she create a personal brand on social media, and as a result, Merve begins to gain some momentum.

Anil Gurman, to whom they sell their company idea, agrees to help them get money for their dating app, Soulmates. It turns out that the person who has been stalking Merve is actually him – something she is unaware of.  Along with investing in the firm, he offers Merve a job at his e-commerce site but weirdly, orders his assistant to treat her badly. Merve tries to open up to her father about how he abandoned her when she was a youngster, but he doesn’t get it and offers to give her money instead.

Meeting as strangers, Merve and Anil start a conversation on Soulmates. Anil dresses up as a wolf whereas Merve transforms into a gazelle. However, Merve doesn’t realize that the person she’s talking to knows her identity and starts pouring her heart out to him. In return, Anil provides her with insightful guidance to assist her with challenges and help her handle both her personal and professional issues.

Later, Merve and her friends throw a Soulmates masquerade party where people disguise themselves within their masks. When the wolf eventually appears wearing the jacket that Merve had advised Anil to have custom-made for himself, Merve begins to grow concerned.

Meanwhile, one of Merve’s ideas gets stolen by her colleague and Anil’s firm decides to try it out and hold a fashion competition. Merve gets assigned by her supervisors to work extended hours throughout the night as a consequence, as they feel that Merve may have inadvertently disrespected or challenged them in front of Anil during a meeting. The romance blossoms between Anil and Merve on the same night. Somehow, Merve becomes certain that Anil is the wolf she’s been talking to on the dating app.
